The death toll from flash floods and landslides along the Nepal-Tibet border has climbed to 1,114 in Nepal, according to the country's National Disaster Management Authority, which still lists 3,916 people as missing.

On the Tibetan side of the border, Chinese authorities have reported 16 deaths and 546 people missing from the same flooding, which began in late August and included a major mudslide at the Gyirong Port border crossing.

The disaster has drawn international attention: the United States State Department said it continues to track around 75 American citizens who remain unaccounted for across the Nepal-Tibet border region.

Nepal's prime minister said emergency responders have treated at least 4,070 people for injuries across the affected districts, and that the government's focus is now shifting from search-and-rescue operations toward rehabilitating survivors and rebuilding affected communities.
