India will play Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series on September 13, 15 and 17, with all three games hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi even though Afghanistan is the designated home side for the series.

Shreyas Iyer captains a full-strength squad that includes Tilak Varma as vice-captain, Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and wicketkeepers Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. Samson returns to the T20I side after missing India's tour of Zimbabwe in July, and spinner Varun Chakravarthy is also back after an injury layoff.

Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar have all been named in the squad subject to fitness clearance closer to the series. The bowling attack is otherwise built around Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi.

The series is India's first assignment against Afghanistan since the two sides last met in a bilateral T20I series, and comes in the same month India is scheduled to feature at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
